Kylie Jenner Backlash for Posting Travis Scott Video "Rage" – BuzzFeed News

Hundreds more were injured in the deadly influx of crowds at the annual event, produced by Travis and named after his 2018 album.

The rapper was accused of “inciting the crowd” during his headlining performance, which is when the tragedy happened. It was also reported that he continued to perform for 37 minutes after the festival was declared a mass casualty incident.

Travis first addressed the tragedy in December, when he appeared to suggest the media was unfairly blaming him for the deaths.

In an interview with Charlamagne tha God, Travis said, “I’m the face of the festival, I’m an artist. So yes, the media… They want to put it on me.

Sources close to the rapper maintained that Travis was unaware of the severity of the influx of crowds, and Travis also denied any legal responsibility for the dead and injured.

However, Astroworld wasn’t the first time Travis has come under scrutiny for his live shows and the way he encourages his fans to “rage” with him. This leads to the formation of mosh pits, crowd surfing and stage diving.

In fact, Travis is so famous for his “rage” that his fans are known as “ragers,” and he’s previously said he wants his shows to feel like a wrestling match.

In a 2015 GQ video titled “How to Rage With Travis Scott,” the rapper explained, “Ever since I was 6, I wanted to be a fucking wrestler. So in performances, I always wanted to give felt like it was the WWF (now known as WWE) or some shit.

That same year, Travis pleaded guilty to reckless driving charges after encouraging Lollapalooza attendees to scale security barricades and onto the stage.

In 2017, Travis was arrested for inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a minor after a show in Arkansas. Authorities claimed he encouraged fans to rush to the stage, and he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

Also in 2017, Travis was sued by a fan who said he was pushed off a third-floor balcony after Travis encouraged him to jump at a concert in New York. The fan was left paralyzed by the fall, and Travis referenced the incident in his 2018 song “Stargazing.”

“And it ain’t a mosh pit if there ain’t no wounds / I got them nosebleeds out,” the lyrics read.

On Saturday, Travis took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena for his first international show since the Astroworld tragedy.

He had previously performed at E11even in Miami during the Formula 1 Grand Prix in May, as well as a Coachella party and a pre-Oscars party.

However, it was his first major solo exhibition since the festival, and his partner, Kylie Jenner, and their 4-year-old daughter, Stormi, were there to support him.

Like Kylie, the billionaire shared plenty of photos and clips from the show on her social media, including a sweet video of Stormi watching her dad perform on stage.

However, another post sparked a fierce backlash as Kylie filmed a seemingly ‘enraged’ Travis backstage after the show.

In the clip, someone who is believed to be Kylie can be heard laughing as topless Travis, 31, repeatedly screams while knocking and kicking at some doors.

Travis squirms in the hallway while being doused in champagne by his entourage, who cheer him on by cheering him “The greatest in the world!”

Travis stops to shout some more as he walks down the hall and is doused in champagne.

Kylie shared the video amid a carousel post on her Instagram page, as well as a standalone post on TikTok.

While it remains live on Instagram, the TikTok has been removed. Before it was taken down, however, it received overwhelmingly negative reaction.

Discussing the video on the Reddit forums, people shared their shock at this “aggressive” portrayal of Travis at his concert – especially so soon after 10 people were killed on his show.

“It’s so insensitive to the lives lost at his festival. Shows he has a very high opinion of himself and looks quite aggressive and self-centered,” one person wrote. “Like who’s doing this? Especially since it’s his first big solo performance, because you’d think he’d be a lot more humble and thoughtful.

“Not a single fuck was given. Like nothing ever happened and he didn’t cause rage and 10 deaths on his last show. :(” said another. Someone another added: it’s not cute, it’s actually sickening.”

Another user commented, “Man you don’t want to remind us how your ragers are doing…”

Another wrote: “I feel so bad for Kylie. Fr en if I saw this behavior I would be legitimately scared. He is acting like a maniac. Last time this man raged people were killed . It’s not ‘cool’ or ‘edgy’ in the slightest.”

“I get the hype after playing and the adrenaline and endorphins. But I don’t know why she would share that. She’s trying to create this happy reformed family image of Travis and posting videos of him knocking on doors and doing rage isn’t really a good look at Astro,” one Reddit user said. Another replied: “Wasn’t rage the reason Astroworld happened? It’s in such bad taste.”

In addition to calling out the bizarre decision to share the video after the Astroworld tragedy, people pointed out that Travis apparently masked Kylie while she filmed.

“Awkward. He walked right past her too without any recognition,” one person observed. Someone else echoed, “One thing I noticed was he didn’t even glanced at Kylie. It’s your moment and you don’t even recognize the person who means the most to you? The biggest supporter? Not even a look or a smile. Big phew.

Another user wrote, “Just gliding right next to Kylie. Awkward and disrespectful.🤡” Another said: “Looks like he’s having fun acting passive around her. He seems so determined to ignore her or minimize their relationship as much as possible. I think he just likes having it around as a trophy?

Someone else commented, “He looks like this random immature guy someone invited to the party who can’t handle his booze and starts showing up.”

“So much second hand embarrassment when he tried to knock on that door 😅,” another added. And another to conclude: “Really embarrassing for his life and his soul. Why would you post this about the man you had TWO kids with? ! Daughter. Nope.”

In addition to Stormi, Travis and Kylie share a 6-month-old son whose name they have yet to announce.

The behind-the-scenes video of Travis raging isn’t the only time he’s been called out for disrespect following Astroworld.

In February, the star sparked a backlash after Kanye West publicly demanded that singer Billie Eilish apologize to Travis after he stopped a concert to help a fan who was struggling to breathe.

Billie didn’t mention Travis at all in the show, but the stark comparison of how she stopped to help the crowd versus Travis’ Astroworld performance sparked discussion around the festival.

Ye posted a screenshot of an article following the speech on his Instagram page and told Billie to apologize to Travis. Travis apparently showed his agreement with Ye’s stance by liking the post.

This response saw him accused of having “no remorse” for the victims of Astroworld, and many said he liked the post was “disrespectful” and “incredibly offensive” to the victims’ families.

Also in February, it was reported that nearly 400 lawsuits filed individually against Travis and Live Nation – the company responsible for organizing Astroworld – had been combined into one giant case.

The joint petition represents nearly 2,800 victims who have been impacted by the tragedy, and a single judge will oversee all cases as thousands of victims seek billions of dollars in total damages.

Meanwhile, Travis is set to begin a residency at Las Vegas nightclub Zouk next month.
