France star Kylian Mbappe is set to be fined by FIFA after refusing to speak to the media following the win over Denmark.

Despite being named Man of the Match in their Group D win over the Danes, the Paris Saint-Germain striker opted not to speak to the global press and could now be in trouble.

He was named man of the match in both of France’s World Cup wins

Mbappe received his first accolade of the tournament after France’s 4-1 win over Australia and, despite FIFA rules stipulating that Man of the Match winners must speak to the press afterwards, the player 23 year old didn’t.

Both he and the French Football Federation (FFF) were told what would happen if the striker did it a second time, but that didn’t deter Mbappe from repeating the offense after the win over Denmark.

As a result, ESPN reports that he and the FFF are set to share the fine that will be imposed by FIFA.

The reason why he didn’t choose to speak to the media is believed to be because he will most likely be asked about his future at PSG.

Such questions could become a distraction for him during the World Cup despite his reported displeasure at the French giants, but his silence towards the press will not go unpunished.

Mbappe has had a superb tournament for France so far after scoring three goals in two matches.

He has now taken his tally of World Cup goals to seven, making him France’s second-highest goalscorer in the competition behind Just Fontaine, despite only playing in his second tournament.

Olivier Giroud’s brace against Australia saw him equal Thierry Henry’s record 51 goals for France, making the former the top scorer in the country’s history.

However, with Mbappe already on 31 goals for his nation, he could break the record for himself very soon.

Despite the upcoming sanction, he is still set to play a key role for Les Bleus throughout this year’s tournament in Qatar as the current holders strive to retain their crown.
