Kyle Walker will start England’s clash against Wales and Gareth Southgate could make further changes for the final World Cup clash

Kyle Walker is set to start for England in their World Cup clash against Wales, according to talkSPORT.

The Manchester City defender is yet to feature in Qatar after suffering a groin injury which nearly ruled him out of the tournament.

But England boss Gareth Southgate is set to start Walker for his final Group B game, live on talkSPORT.

It is unclear whether Walker will play in his usual right-back role or a back-three, a position he has played on numerous occasions for the Three Lions.

talkSPORT also understands Southgate could make further changes to England’s goalless draw in the United States with Jordan Henderson, who was alongside the manager in the pre-match press conference, also a potential starter for the Wales clash.

On Walker’s news, former England women’s international Lianne Sanderson said: “I like Kyle Walker, he’s a really good player. He’s consistent.

“Obviously he’s had this injury, he hasn’t played much football lately, but his injury isn’t that long ago. He will still have the fitness there.

“I feel like we’ll see Kieran Trippier go to the other side, like at the Euros and Luke Shaw will probably come out of training to rest him.”

England will qualify for the Round of 16 of the World Cup if they avoid a four-goal loss to Wales.

A win would guarantee England first place, but they can still draw and finish top unless Iran beat the United States or the Americans win by at least four goals.

England will also finish first if Iran and USA draw and do not lose to Wales by four or more goals.
