Apple urgently resolved production issues with the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s improved telephoto camera system to boost supply of the device, according to a study shared today by Channel analyst supply Ming-Chi Kuo.
Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s tetraprism camera module with up to 5x optical zoom was the biggest bottleneck in supplying the device. In response, he said that Apple had increased the specifications of the tetraprism lens supplied by Largan Precision in order to compensate for this. As a result of this change, and to meet the strong overall demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Kuo said Largan Precision has expanded its production lines for the tetraprism lens.
iPhone 15 Pro Max shipping estimates range from 3-4 weeks for some configurations to 6-7 weeks for others. Yesterday, Kuo said that demand for the iPhone 15 Pro Max had exceeded demand for the iPhone 14 Pro Max during the same period last year.
In addition to the camera bottleneck, Kuo previously said that the iPhone 15 Pro Max entered mass production later than other iPhone 15 series devices, which likely contributed to the long device shipping delays. In the US, the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 with 256GB of storage.
All iPhone 15 models are now available to order and launching this Friday.
