Liverpool is a ‘highly rated’ potential destination for Jude Bellingham.
This is according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who revealed on Twitter last night that the player – a childhood Reds supporter [HITC Sport] – is apparently interested in the prospect of a move to Anfield.
Plettenberg added that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder – who earns £49,000 a week in the Bundesliga – is the subject of Jurgen Klopp “pushing hard” to sign him.
He said on Twitter:
Jude Bellingham at Liverpool
The problem is that Liverpool will have to shell out almost £130m to sign the 19-year-old, according to Plettenberg’s tweet.
And honestly, it remains to be seen whether the Reds can afford to lower such a high figure, having just broken their transfer record on an £85million deal to sign Darwin Nunez.
Finishing outside the top four this season and missing out on Champions League revenue could be detrimental to the Merseysiders.
It would undeniably have ripple effects on the transfer window and honestly is someone like Bellingham, on the radar of every major football club, going to settle for someone with League football Europa next season?
It’s extremely doubtful, so it’s a double-edged sword for Liverpool, who are sixth in the Premier League and seven points behind fourth-placed Spurs.
Bellingham is already enjoying a decent World Cup with England in Qatar and the more successful he is at this stage, the more his value could even rise next summer.
Without Champions League football as a carrot, Klopp has no chance.
