There’s a good chance Liverpool won’t finish in the top four this season.
We’ve been there before so it’s nothing new to many of us. But a large part of this team only existed in good times and got used to winning titles. There is the natural worry that some might agitate to leave imminently.
No, explains the Liverpool manager.
“I know we have the loyalty of the players,” Jürgen Klopp told BBC Sport
“This club will not be a regular in the Champions League – this year is difficult, we know, but the potential and the power of the club are completely different.
“I don’t know the team 10 years ago but we are ready for a battle at this time, and with the team we have together.
“The seasons have momentum and we’ve never really had it this year, it’s true, but this club is in a very good position.
“In a difficult period of course, but in a better position than the other clubs, I would say.
“I obviously didn’t think about what happened in the past, but what I can say is that nobody has to worry about the future of the club because it is between good hands and has a very good team together, and so that’s obviously the basis for a bright future.
Look, Klopp says not to worry, and I think we should all follow his lead. The next few seasons were always going to be a bit of a rebuilding phase anyway. This season has not fundamentally changed the reality that the club are built on a very solid foundation to keep fighting for titles.
