Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West could fight over their property with sticky notes, claims famous divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
Wasser, who has been involved in separating celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Ashton Kutcher, and Ryan Reynolds, is known for her no-frills method.
She would now represent the Skims founder in its potential split.
His book It doesn’t have to be this way: How to get a divorce without destroying your family or ruining yourself provides a glimpse of what to expect from Kimye’s split.
“It doesn’t matter who you are or the size of your wallet… you have an equal right to custody of your children,” she writes.
“Believe me: at least once a month, a potential or current client calls me with their own partner diagnosis as bipolar, manic-depressive, schizophrenic or psychopathic. Unless institutionalized, it is unlikely that l ‘State declares your spouse is unfit, so forget it. “
As far as property is concerned, couples are “equal co-owners of all that has been earned or acquired during the marriage”.
“Therefore, the split is also even. It’s 50-50. In California, for better or for worse, the rule is pretty hard and quick,” the book states.
If the two are arguing over a particular item in the house, the attorney says the best method is to use colorful sticky notes to stick on the items one wishes to claim.
“Take a block of different colored Post-its and you walk through the house together, each of you hitting your Post-its on the things you want to claim.
“Frequent flyer mileage, in fact, is an expensive item. Remember. And don’t forget the dog either. Or the cat, the parrot, the gerbil, the boa constrictor.”
