Connecticut Police say they found a kidnapping victim while arresting a man wanted by Pennsylvania Police.
Police in Bethlehem, Pa., Notified Connecticut authorities Monday afternoon that the theft suspect, Jose Alberto Claudio-Diaz, was traveling across the state, Connecticut state police said.
Shortly after receiving the request, state police arrested Claudio-Diaz in Trumbull, according to a criminal intelligence summary of the case. When he was arrested, police found a woman who had been taken “across state borders without her consent,” according to the summary.
Claudio-Diaz was arrested and charged with first degree kidnapping and assaulting a public security officer. Bond was set at $ 300,000 ahead of his initial appearance Tuesday morning in Bridgeport Superior Court, according to the Criminal Intelligence Summary.
It is not known if Claudio-Diaz has a lawyer.
Bethlehem police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the details of the robbery case. Connecticut State Police said they had no new information to release.
At a press conference on Tuesday, state police said they believed the victim was kidnapped in Pennsylvania and the two were on their way to Springfield, Massachusetts, NBC Connecticut reported.
