The rapper, 38, in an Esquire article published on Wednesday, said he had been in rehab for two weeks which he had taken amid ‘depression and suicidal urges’ when he suffered the crash stroke, and that he was subsequently hospitalized.
The Cleveland native said “everything was f****d” during the period, as his speech and physical abilities deteriorated, leading to months of physical rehabilitation.

“It’s a lot of pressure, but it keeps me alive,” Kid Cudi told the outlet. ‘Then I’ll take it. It doesn’t stress me out. It makes me think, “No, Scott. You have to be here. Let old age take you.” ‘
Kid Cudi said he was in a better place now, adding: “I can truly say, at 38, that I love myself.” And I couldn’t have said that six years ago. I can say it with confidence now and truly believe it, and it shows.
The Grammy-winning rapper previously spoke about mental health awareness in 2020 in a clip for Washington DC’s PBS station WETA, according to People.
“When we’re young, we’re under a lot of pressure to do things that hurt us,” Kid Cudi said. “We pretend to be happy when there is a violent storm raging inside our heart. Once, I struggled to find the words.
“Anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember. I was scared, I was sad, I felt like a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions.

The rapper said he knew he “deserved peace and was happy” but “didn’t know how to deal with the situation”.
He continued, “It’s taken me a while to get to this place of commitment, to say I’m going to get through this.” Knowing that we can take our pain and turn it into something. I turn my pain into music. And my music is how I’m different. And my difference is my power.
