Kia EV9 Rendering Previews Imposing an electric family transporter

0

In November last year, Kia previewed its largest and most luxurious electric vehicle to date with the EV9 concept. This machine will soon turn into a production model which is currently under development. We’ve seen a number of spy shots with the EV9 and now it’s time to take a look at the family hauler’s final design.

Our friends and colleagues from Kolesa.ru used available information regarding the EV9 to build these exclusive renders. We think this is an accurate preview of the battery-powered SUV and compared to the concept, the production EV9 will likely lose the chiseled fenders and slab sides. Overall, however, the overall shape will remain almost unchanged and will continue to be straight and square.

Teasers for the EV9 earlier this month showed that the vehicle will get vertical taillights, matching the arrangement of the headlights up front. The side profile features a flat roofline and a relatively small greenhouse, which creates an overall dynamic feel. Retractable door handles complete the sleek design language and reduce wind resistance.

The production EV9 will be based on the E-GMP platform shared with the EV6. Kia has yet to reveal technical details, although we suspect the production version will have similar specs to the concept. The prototype had an estimated range of 300 miles (483 kilometers) and a projected acceleration of 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in the low five-second range.

We don’t have much to say about the interior of the EV9, but we assume it will feature an optional seven-seat configuration. The model is currently undergoing final testing at the automaker’s Namyang R&D center in South Korea and we hope to hear more in the coming weeks. The full, official debut is slated for early next year with sales kicking off in the second quarter of 2023. Pricing should start at around $50,000.
