Kevin Garrett hosted a Billboard Live At-Home performance Thursday afternoon (April 9) to raise funds for Meals on Wheels America, which delivers meals to seniors.
Garrett fed his fans with some brooding tunes from his February EP Wasted time before traveling back in time for his “kind of fun” at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016, when he co-wrote and produced a top 40 for the unique Beyoncé, lemonadeThe vulnerable “Pray You Catch Me” opener.
He delivered the simultaneous sweetness and enthusiasm of the on his steel-string acoustic guitar as fans begged to catch the 29-year-old hitmaker by announcing that he would be releasing more of his own music.
“I work on a lot of new music,” he said, tuning his guitar before Beyoncé’s tender cover. “I think I can confidently say that I’m in a pretty good position on the next album. I remember at the Austin City Limits Festival, I did an interview with Billboard and I told them that I would make them the first to find out. So I guess it’s kind of doing that. “
But the party was not over for Garrett fans who begged him to stay Billboard‘Live a little longer. So he finished the set with an acoustic interpretation of “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish.
