Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell kept Nickelodeon nostalgic at the People’s Choice Awards on Dec. 6. For the first time in 25 years, the comedy duo reunited on the red carpet just hours before Thompson was to host the awards show. The last time the former “All That” stars hit the red carpet together was at the premiere of “Good Burger” in 1997, when they were both in their late teens.
As the couple posed together on the red carpet, they looked like they hadn’t missed a thing, falling back into their classic “Kenan & Kel” vibes. Between moments of hype and selfies with fans, the stars also took a moment to show off their coordinated outfits. Thompson arrived in a midnight blue velvet suit, while Mitchell completed the “Saturday Night Live” star’s ensemble in her own satin suit and navy button-up.
Now that “Good Burger 2” is on the way and set to begin filming soon, Thompson and Mitchell have planned a surprise reunion left and right. Most recently, the duo appeared together in a skit inspired by “Kenan & Kel,” featuring the evening’s host, Keke Palmer. In September, the pals really took the crowd by surprise when they appeared onstage together at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, their first big reunion since the ’90s.
In the years since they helmed their own comedy sketch show together on Nickelodeon, the stars’ careers have seen huge success. Thompson – a father of two – has won the title of longest serving “SNL” cast member after 20 seasons. Meanwhile, Mitchell – a father of four – appeared on Season 28 of “Dancing With the Stars” and pursued a career as a writer and musician.
