Music fans are slamming the lyrics of a Katy Perry song relating to Jeffrey Dahmer after a new Netflix series put the serial killer’s horrific crimes in the spotlight.
Dahmer’s multiple murders were made public after his arrest in 1990, but as time passed and new generations came into the world, more and more people did not know the details of his crimes.
This largely remained the case as Katy Perry rose to fame and released her many hits, but one song in particular caught people’s attention after the release of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix.
Starring Evan Peters, the chilling series takes a closer look at Dahmer’s crimes and how he got away with killing over the course of 13 years. The murderer was found with body parts in his apartment, with evidence suggesting he even ate some of his victims.
That being said, consider the lyrics to Perry’s song “Dark Horse.” Specifically, the line sung by Juicy J that reads, “She’s a beast/ I call her Karma/ She eats your heart like Jeffrey Dahmer.”
The track was released in 2013 and sparked some controversy over the following years, but has become a hot topic of conversation again recently thanks to the release of the series from Netflix.
Criticizing the lyrics, one person wrote, “Katy Perry should be getting some heat for using the lyrics, ‘She eats you like Jeffrey Dahmer’. The level of disrespect to the victims and their families.”

Other netizens pointed out that Perry wasn’t the only singer to shout out to Dahmer in a song, with some pointing to Kesha’s song “Cannibal” for the same reason.

In Kesha’s track, released in 2010, a line reads, “Be too nice and you’ll be mad / Yeah, I’ma shoot a Jeffrey Dahmer.”
Many people are baffled that the singers were able to “get away with it” using the killer in their lyrics, though others wonder why the criticism only comes now, years after the songs were originally released. .
Netflix’s Dahmer series has clearly done a great job of raising awareness of Dahmer’s crimes, and while it may not benefit Perry, Juicy J, or Kesha, it does a good job of raising awareness of the victims and the issues that set the plot back. Dahmer’s arrest.
