Katy Perry’s Mom Tricked By AI-Generated Met Gala Photos – Comic Sands

Katy Perry didn’t attend the 2024 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but her mother, Mary Perry, was convinced otherwise.

It turns out that an image circulating online – of someone who looked like the popstar and American idol judge at the MET – was just a very impressive AI-generated photo.

At least its creator understood the mission by making the image look like Perry to mislead fans.

The annual theme of this year’s fundraising event was “Sleeping Beauties: Awakening Fashion”, which Vogue announced in November.

The fake image showed “Perry” posing for photographers on the grand staircase landing in a stunning dress evoking the Garden of Eden with its spring floral embellishments.

Here’s the image of not-Katy Perry, the garden elf.

There was another AI version of Perry as a fierce warrior, Defender of the E.Enchanted Garden edition, with its bodice inspired by armor.

Perry shared the images on Instagram and informed confused fans:

“I couldn’t get to the MET, I had to work.”

People suggested the singer was back in the recording studio putting the finishing touches on her long-awaited seventh album.

The photo carousel included a screenshot of her text exchange with her mother, who was embarrassed by the fake photo and wrote:

“Ha Feather! I didn’t know you went to the Met. What a beautiful dress.”

“You look like the Rose Parade, you’re your own float lol.”

In response, Perry wrote:

“lol mom, the AI got you too, BE CAREFUL!”

Fans shared their amused responses to the buzz she generated without even trying.

One Instagrammer found the whole thing worrying.

The conversation continued on X (formerly Twitter).

Who can blame their mother? We, too, fell for it.

Others are tired of being deceived.

Perry’s upcoming album will be her first release since 2020’s Smile.

A spokesperson as the artist said the new album is his “most personal” yet and something Perry has been diligently focusing on over the past two years.

It’s expected to be “quite different from anything she’s released before.”
