Katy Perry thinks the world is a video game.
The pop superstar studied simulation theory, which proposes that all of existence is a simulated reality like a computer simulation, an idea that is explored in the sci-fi film series “The Matrix.”
Katy, 37, said: ‘I have some weird thoughts that I harbor. I’m into simulation theory, I’m into NPCs. Like my brother is a big gamer and he’s into Crypto and he was watching the X Games of video games, and it was literally video gamers on their computers with their nice chairs playing FIFA football, and there was a stadium lots of people watching these people play, it was their avatars. I was like, ‘Hasn’t this happened before? Isn’t that what happens with us? Isn’t someone potentially playing with us? And we’re looking to play another game? So the metaverse is the next dimension of our reality? I do not know.
“NPC stands for non-player character, people who do not actively participate in life. I think that might be a sociopathic way of explaining it, but on a more esoteric spiritual level, these are people who lack conscience.
“I mean, we’re all just stars bound to a body.
“And I don’t even smoke weed!” I’m not even allowed to smoke food. I know it sounds like micro-dosing now. It’s pretty intense trying to process any of that information.
Katy was raised as a Pentecostal Christian by her pastor parents, but now she does not believe in organized religion, and in addition to her interest in simulation theory, she has also adopted some of her fiancé Orlando’s Buddhist beliefs. Bloom.
The ‘Roar’ singer – who has two-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with the British actor – told the ‘SmartLess’ podcast: “I was brought up in a very Christian home, but they call it Born Again Christians, it’s very moving and the new wave, it’s not Catholic, it’s more radical Christian. I grew up listening to gospel music and Christian music and there’s a whole world of Christian music that has its own kind of Grammys, that’s all.
“I don’t believe in the way I was raised. Organized religion is not necessarily for me, I am a great researcher. Orlando is a devout Buddhist and he sings almost every morning. So I’m a little more his philosophy or the Buddhist philosophy. I’m actually just a researcher of all of this. From mysticism to mathematics to geometry and physics, lots of science. I’m sure there will be something eventually.
