Kate Garraway fans were overwhelmed with emotion on Sunday night as they watched her children pay homage to their ‘amazing mom’ in Piers Morgan’s life stories.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, spoke candidly on Sunday about the battle for the health of her Covid-stricken husband, Derek Draper, whom she has treated since his near-fatal medical crisis last year.
Piers, who hands his Life Stories witness to the mother-of-two, searched the audience for the children of Kate, 15-year-old Darcey, and Billy, 12, in the audience, asking Kate’s son how proud he was of his mother.

Kate exclaimed, “These two are amazing – and they’re amazing with their dad.”
When teenager Darcey was asked by Piers about the past 20 months and how her mother has ‘kept it all together’, she said: “She is obviously amazing. She takes care of us, she always encourages us, that’s really good, we’re really proud of her.

Fighting back tears, Kate swore to Piers in her latest episode of Life Stories that she will “never give up” Derek after his 13-month battle in the hospital – the longest of any surviving Covid patient.
In the very moving interview, she explains with the Mail On Sunday columnist how her husband pulled off three words – “hello” and “thank you” – on the phone the day before the show’s taping last month.
She continued, “It’s times like this that make you realize he’s there, and we’ve had others. He’ll turn to me and say ‘I love you’. He’s there. , he fought so hard to stay in this world and I will never give up on him.
“He’ll have moments of clarity, then it’s like he’s gone but then he finds a voice.”

Her children continued to star in Piers’ later life stories, as Kate conjured up a hearty laugh in the studio when she recalled the time Darcey had used Beyoncé as a newborn baby.
“I had a moment while interviewing Beyoncé, she’s going to love me for that, when Darcey stung her!”
“She was about three or four weeks old, so I was on maternity leave and they said, ‘Is there any chance you could interview Beyoncé? You don’t say no, do you? she joked.

Kate had to take several-week-old Darcey with her, which clearly didn’t bother the Single Ladies singer when she asked to come pick her up.
The reporter recalled, “She came out of the room for a drink of water or something, saw Darcey and said, ‘Oh my God let me pick up!
“I was at the start of diapers, I had barely changed her – I saw her slip perilously!”
