“I bought a bottle and put it down, but it was taken away. As stupid as it sounds, it crushed me, but what made me more isolated was that if I said these things out loud, people would think I was pathetic and selfish.
Kate and Rio, who married last September, admit it was a battle for her to be accepted as the stepmother of her children Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, eight.
“ I kept getting it wrong, like forgetting to put a gym kit in a school bag or missing an email from one of the children’s teachers, ” says Kate, who quit her job in an unsuccessful attempt to ease the transition.
“And I would be in a complete state because I felt that I was wrong in front of so many people who did not want me there.”
