Holograms are the new candygram.
Kim Kardashian has revealed that her husband Kanye West surprised her with an unusual gift for her 40th birthday this week: a holographic message from her late father, Robert Kardashian.
Kardashian announced the giveaway on Twitter Thursday night, calling it “the most thoughtful gift of a lifetime” and “a special surprise from heaven”.
“It’s so realistic!” she added. “We watched it over and over again, full of emotion.”
“You’re 40 and all of you have grown up,” Robert – who died in 2003 – told Kim in the nearly two and a half minute clip. “You are beautiful, like when you were a little girl. I watch over you, your sisters and your brother – and the children – every day.
The ersatz Kardashian mentions driving Kim to school “in my little Mercedes” while listening to Barry Mann’s “Who Put the Bomp,” how the hologram dances and sings.
“I am so proud of the woman you have become, Kimberly, and all that you have accomplished,” he continues. “But most impressive is your commitment to becoming a lawyer and continuing my legacy. It’s a long and difficult road, but it’s worth it, and I’m with you every step of the way.
“You are a proud Armenian, and I am a proud Armenian father,” he adds.
It seems likely that West, 43, wrote the script from which the hologram reads, given that Kardashian says “you married the most awesome man in the world” (Page Six omitted about six repetitions of “the most ”in our transcript of this line) at some point.
“Keep doing what you’re doing, Kimberly, you are a beautiful soul. Know that I am very proud of you and that I am always with you. I have built a firewall around our family. I love you… Don’t forget to say your prayers, ”the hologram ends, before dissolving in a cloud.
It’s been an eventful week for Kardashian, who suffered a backlash over her muffled promotion of her 40th birthday, which cost $ 1,000,000, so Kardashian and her family “could pretend things were normal. just for a brief moment in time, ”as she put it in a very mocking tweet.
