Juventus chiefs rip Fabio Paratici over deal for ‘excellent’ Tottenham Hotspur star – HITC – Football, Games, Movies, TV, Music

Fabio Paratici has come under fire from Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini for his deal with Tottenham Hotspur star Dejan Kulusevski.

Juventus are once again in deep trouble.

It was pretty bad on the pitch this season; out of the Champions League group stage with just one win to their name and nowhere near the battle for the Serie A title.

The form has improved lately, but now it’s the off-field issues that are the problem.

The entire Juventus board – including chairman Andrea Agnelli – has now resigned due to investigations into the club’s accounting in recent years.

Fabio Paratici lambasted for Kulusevski deal

Others have been dragged into this drama, including Tottenham director of football Fabio Paratici.

Tottenham have no problem, but Paratici is the subject of criticism in Italy.

Federico Cherubini – Paratici’s successor as sporting director – has criticized Paratici for his transfer deals to Juventus.

Cherubini told Gazzetta dello Sport that Paratici was “drugging the market” by paying odds for players.

Cherubini brought up a few examples when talking about deals for Federico Chiesa and Dejan Kulusevski.

The Juventus man called both players ‘excellent’ but felt Paratici vastly overpaid for both players.

Cherubini pointed out that Kulusevski was very inexperienced when Paratici agreed to sign him for €44m (£38m) for him.

Kulusevski continued to struggle at Tottenham before Paratici secured a deal to bring him to Tottenham.

Full Spurs deal is worth around €45m according to Fabrizio Romanoso Juventus get most of their money back after the sell clauses.

Moreover, if you asked Tottenham fans how much Kulusevski is really worth, they’d almost certainly say it’s way more than £38m.

The fact is, Antonio Conte is getting more out of Kulusevski than Massimiliano Allegri ever did and Tottenham are reaping the rewards.

That won’t change Cherubini’s view as he suggested Paratici’s spending on the transfer market was ‘dangerous’ and putting Juventus in trouble – but no mention of the Cristiano Ronaldo deal, which cost wages enormous and brought few rewards in Europe.

“Fabio drugged the transfer market,” Cherubini said. “That is to say even Kulusevski or Chiesa, who are excellent players, but when we bought them we overpaid them. Kulusevski had spent five months in Serie A and we paid 35 million euros plus 9 million euros in bonuses: that’s 44 million euros.

“If Fabio woke up in the morning and had a headache or had a drink, he could sign €20m without telling anyone. He was dangerous,” he added.

In other news, Striker can now leave for £5m in January after admitting he would like a move to Newcastle or Leeds
