Justin Bieber opened up about feeling ‘lonely’ and empty while staying in a castle in Ireland on his world tour.
The 27-year-old stayed in Ireland in November 2016 and June 2017 during his Purpose World Tour, where he performed at 3 Arena and then RDS Arena respectively.
After playing 150 concerts in 40 countries, Bieber decided to cancel his remaining 14 dates due to depression and burnout.
The pop star opened up about this low point in his life in an interview with GQ Magazine, where he explained that he realized he was “sad inside” staying in an Irish castle, just before doing the rest of the world tour.
The Canadian said, “This old castle. Just like the most beautiful domain. With trimmed hedges that are completely immaculate. “
“It’s on this magnificent body of water. And I was there. And I was alone. And I was sad inside.
Bieber explained that he felt like he had bottomed out five years ago, saying, “I just lost control of my vision for my career. There are all these opinions. And in this industry there are people who unfortunately prey on people’s insecurity and use it to their advantage.
“And so when that happens, obviously, it makes you angry. And then you’re that angry young person who had these big dreams, and then the world hurts you and turns you into this person you don’t want to be.
“And then you wake up one day and your relationships are f – ked and you’re miserable and you’ve got all this success in the world, but you’re just like: Well, what’s it worth if I’m always feeling empty at inside?
“It was like I had all this success and it was always like: I’m still sad and I’m still in pain. And I still have these unresolved issues. And I thought all success was going to make everything good, ”he continued.
