Coachella’s highly anticipated 2022 return, which was at one point set to feature the entertainer formerly known as Kanye West as a headliner, reportedly got a (eventual) surprise performance from Justin Bieber.
According to a report TMZ shared on the first day of the Indio festival, Bieber is using his days off between stops on his ongoing tour to surprise opening night attendees. Citing “production sources,” the publication said Bieber is set to make an appearance alongside Daniel Caesar for a performance of 2021’s single “Peaches,” which also features Givēon. Caesar and Givēon, in particular, were previously announced as part of this year’s Coachella performers.
It’s noted in Friday’s report that — at the time of this writing, at least — it’s not yet known whether Givēon will be joining Bieber and Caesar for the alleged Coachella surprise performance. Caesar is part of the Friday lineup, while Givēon is scheduled for Saturday. With “Peaches,” the trio earned four nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards.
Of course, one could very easily (and with undeniable accuracy) argue that the use of the word “surprise” here is incongruous with the very nature of the art of surprises, but I digress. TMZ also suggested that it’s possible Bieber might end up choosing to perform multiple songs, though none of that has been confirmed.
What has It has been confirmed that the April 15 and 22 lineups for Coachella will also include performances by Harry Styles, Lil Baby, Phoebe Bridgers, Baby Keem, Big Sean, Black Coffee, Carly Rae Jepsen, Cordae, Princess Nokia, Bishop Briggs, City Girls , and much more.
As Bieberthusiasts will notice, the Justice The entertainer previously merged the worlds of surprises and Coachellas in 2019 with an appearance during Ariana Grande’s headliner. Revisit that moment below. Due to the pandemic, the 2019 edition of the festival marks the most recent iteration of the two-weekend experience.
