The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber hold on to No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, Australia’s main chart for most-consumed songs, with their collaborative track ‘Stay’. The air is nothing new at the top position of the weekly leaderboard, and in fact, with one more round at the top of the list, the cup is making history.

“Stay” has now spent 16 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Australian Singles Chart, and that setting helps the track emerge from a major tie and earn a spot in the charts annals. The Laroi/Bieber smash is now the longest-serving leader in nationwide history by a male artist. He’s also the second-longest champion of all time, and he still has a ways to go before he ties the all-time record holder.

Last week, ‘Stay’ tied with Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ as the second longest No. 1 hit in Australian history and the biggest hit ever among male artists. Both tracks had managed 15 pictures on the throne, but now Bieber and Laroi have passed the British singer-songwriter and guitarist. “Shape of You” is now the third oldest leader in the country.

Australian pop singer Tones And I’s “Dance Monkey” is stable at number one and far ahead of all other hits. The musician took the world by storm several years ago with her must-have earworm, which not only broke the all-time record for most weeks at the top of the tally, it completely shattered the previous best performance. This cut lived at No. 1 for an incredible 24 weeks between 2019 and 2020.

“Stay” was a huge hit in almost every country, and it helped take The Kid Laroi from rising talent to true chart-topping. The tune became her second No. 1 in Australia, her home country, following the success of previous single “Without You”, which benefited from an updated version featuring Miley Cyrus. Both cuts are featured on his debut album fucking love, which has been expanded several times to include new hits. The first expansion included “Without You”, while the Fuck Love 3: Above You deluxe edition added “Stay”.

The Kid Laroi is currently nominated for two Grammys, and in a few weeks he will be competing for both Best New Artist and Album of the Year. He’s up for this latest award as a featured artist on Bieber’s Justice (Triple Chucks Deluxe)as he joined the Canadian superstar on the song ‘Unstable’.
