The video game based on the modern Jumanji movies of 2017 and 2019 will get a surprise upgrade for the PS5 this year.
The original 1995 Jumanji movie starring Robin Williams is a popular family film that continues to have a big following fan today. The film inspired a cartoon Jumanji series, several video games and possibly a direct sequel with the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black.
When the sequel to the 2017 film Jumanji: the next level was released in 2019, a video game based on the two films was developed called Jumanji: the video game. The video game was developed by Funsolve and published by Outright Games and released in 2019. The game was a third-person shooter with four-player co-op that allowed players to control new characters from the 2017 and 2019 films. Recently, it was revealed that the game related to the movie is going to be re-released on PS5 this year.
Jumanji: the video game Originally released for the PS4, PC, and Xbox One, and soon PS5 players will be able to enjoy the enhanced edition of the game. This time around, the game will be re-released as a PS5 exclusive on October 22. For the reissue on PS5, Jumanji: the video game will have some new changes, including faster load times, dynamic 4k resolution, HDR and frame rates of 120 fps.
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation whether there will be any changes to the basic mechanics of the game. For now, fans of the original Jumanji: the video game will enjoy the same controls and gameplay as before on the PS5. Additionally, there has been no confirmation whether the original game will receive a free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 when the PS5 version of Jumanji: the video game released. Until more details are revealed, the enhanced edition of the game will be separate from the original.
For players who don’t know the game, Jumanji: the video game lets players embark on a new adventure as Dwayne Johnson’s Dr. Xander “Smolder” Bravestone, Kevin Hart’s Franklin “Mouse” Finbar, Karen Gillan’s Ruby Roundhouse, and Jack Black’s Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon. Each of the different heroes comes with their own set of special in-game skills. Players can take on the dangers of Jumanji on their own or team up with their friends in a four-player split screen and online co-op to enjoy the game. or alone, players can brave dangerous traps, fierce enemies and find collectibles in the world of Jumanji.
Jumanji: the video game is available on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and will be available on PS5 this October 22.
