Josh Warrington revealed that Anthony Joshua told him about his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr during their recent FaceTime chat.
The former IBF featherweight champion was shockingly beaten by huge Mexican underdog Mauricio Lara earlier this month – something AJ was able to relate to.
Joshua suffered a similar fate against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
It is understood that Warrington is now planning to take the rematch with Lara.
That’s exactly what Joshua did against Ruiz, taking out the Mexican in their second fight to regain his titles.
AJ posted a picture of himself talking to Warrington on FaceTime on Wednesday night and captioned it, “You know what to do. I have your champion back.
Warrington put up a picture from his point of view with the caption: “School of Boxing with Anthony Joshua. Lesson Number One – Bounce Back After Being Knocked Out by a Mexican. Thanks for the big man call. “
Warrington revealed to reporters about the conversation: “He was telling me things like, ‘Make sure you have your free time, make sure you stay because when you come back from there the only way is up. As long as you have fire in your belly and want to right your wrongs.
“It was as if he gave me a little psychology session, we want to come back after that.
“He was telling me a story when he was in New York and after [Andy Ruiz Jr] fight with him and his entourage went for a walk and this guy said, “Hey Anthony, why the hell were you beaten up by that fat Mexican?” and his head bowed.
“He went back to the apartment and stayed there for a few days, he said he cried, he ate ice cream, he sulked but when he got back he was ready to get back on his horse.
