Jose Mourinho has no plans to drop Eric Dier for Tottenham’s Premier League game with Burnley on Saturday.
After the FA Spurs’ Cup came out in Norwich this week, Dier jumped into the stands to face a supporter who was arguing with his brother.
The midfielder sent social media into a frenzy when videos and photos of him collided with seats to protest the culprit.
Tottenham boss Mourinho has confirmed he has no plans to drop the midfielder for the trip to Burnley, with commentary from the match live on talkSPORT.
He said at his press conference on Friday, “Of course, the only thing that matters is that nothing really serious has happened and, secondly, he has played so well. Of course he will play.
“The only thing I can say is that if I see something happening to my son, I would do the same. I would think two seconds to do the same.
“But, as professionals, we sometimes have to go through difficult situations. And we have to try to deal with it.
“I think everyone understands what happened. Everyone has an opinion. I’m glad the football family understands what happened. And to be honest, what happened happened. Let’s move on.”
Tottenham will also assess goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ physical condition before the trip to Turf Moor, although Mourinho hopes he will play.
He said, “Decision after training. The training is at three hours, decision to be made after. If you ask me if I expect him to play, I answer yes but I cannot confirm it. “
Not only did Mourinho have to answer questions from journalists, but he also had to avoid handshakes.
TalkSPORT’s Ian “Moose” Abrahams offered to shake hands with the boss of Tottenham, but instead offered a joke as fears of coronavirus continued to sweep the nation.
The usual pre-match handshake has been abandoned by the Premier League while some clubs are taking extra care.
Liverpool have decided not to use mascots in Anfield while Southampton players will not sign autographs or pose for selfies.
