Jordan Henderson marked a career highlight when he netted his first-ever World Cup goal for England – and Liverpool fans loved his bond with Jude Bellingham.

The midfielder isn’t renowned for his scoring ability but got a crucial strike for England in their last 16 clash with Senegal – just his third goal in 73 caps.

At 32 years and 170 days, Henderson becomes the second oldest English goalscorer in World Cup history, after Tom Finney against the USSR in 1958 (36 years and 64 days).

After some good work from Bellingham down the left flank, the ball was passed back to Henderson who powered a neat effort past Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy to put Gareth Southgate’s side ahead with 38 minutes on the clock.

Henderson was quick to credit his goal with England sensation Bellingham, the 19-year-old who was responsible for giving him his chance.

The two crossed heads and roared with delight as the Three Lions took the lead – and Harry Kane then made it 2-0 before half-time to put England on the brink of a quarter-final against France.

With Bellingham heavily linked with a move to Liverpool next summer, it’s possible the rising star and the experienced Henderson will play together much more often if the much-vaunted move materializes.

The bond and celebration have certainly had Liverpool fans on social media buzzing at the potential prospect of the two teaming up at Anfield.
