Jon Rahm reveals close friend ‘didn’t even look at him’ at cold Masters reception

Former Masters champion Jon Rahm has revealed that a close friend was cold towards him at Augusta National following his time at LIV Golf.

Rahm reunited with his former PGA Tour colleagues for the first time since a stunning £333 million move to the controversial Saudi-backed separatist tour in December.

The Spaniard, who won the Masters in 2023, hosted the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night with a combination of PGA Tour faithful and LIV Golf rebels in the room.

After finishing his defense on a par nine and away from the leaders, Rahm was asked if he received a warm welcome from the other Georgia golfers.

“Some people did it. I expected it,” he told Spanish golf journalist Hugo Costa.

“And then there was someone else who I expected to be a little tougher…and one of them hugged me.

“I think out of all the relationships I’ve had, they’ve been everything I expected. My friends are still my friends.

“And then someone, who I was very cordial with and had a positive relationship with, didn’t even look at me.

“If someone changes their mind about me, it’s more their problem than mine. I’m not worried.

“I knew it was going to happen. I didn’t know who.”

While it’s unclear who Rahm is talking about, he previously revealed that Tiger Woods didn’t respond to his texts, but that Rory McIlroy supported his lucrative move to LIV Golf.

Speaking to ESPN in January, the world No. 3 said: “Rory was publicly supportive of my decision, and he was privately supportive as well. Tiger, not really.”
