Johnny Depp cuts a trendy figure as he attends the screening of his TV series Puffins in Rome

Johnny Depp was present on Sunday at the screening of his new television series Puffins during the 16th edition of the Rome Film Festival.

Looking a lot like his character of Captain Jack Sparrow, he continued his outfit with a sand headband and a black fedora hat, allowing a selection of his dark brown locks to fall freely.

Posing for photographers with his hands in his pockets, the Hollywood icon walked the red carpet in a pair of onyx leather boots.

Lending his famous voice to Johnny Puff in the new animated series, the cartoon is mainly released in five-minute increments.

Puffins focuses on a set of birds that are in bondage to a walrus named Otto and is available for purchase through the iTunes Store and Amazon Video.

The cartoon is produced by Iervolino Entertainment, a company owned by producer Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi.

The actor is trying to clear his name after losing a libel lawsuit against The Sun.

His lawsuit in the United States, filed in Fairfax County, Virginia, accuses Heard of creating a “hoax” account of abuse.

Heard had asked that the libel action against her, filed in March 2019, be dismissed, saying the ruling in the UK case should tip any new cases in her favor, as they both involve allegations of domestic violence against Depp.

But Judge Penny Azcarate ruled that the statements made by The Sun and Heard were “inherently different,” and said the case should continue.

The ruling read: “The Sun’s interests were based on whether the statements published by the newspaper were false.

‘[Heard’s] the interest centers on whether the statements she published were false.

The ruling also noted that Depp had filed a libel suit against The Sun before the publication of Heard’s editorial – and that she had not been named in the case against the UK newspaper.

In the December 2018 editorial, the actress wrote: “I have become a public figure representing domestic violence and have felt the full force of our culture’s anger for women speaking out.”

The UK High Court ruled against Depp following an explosive three-week trial last July, ruling that the allegations that the actor was a “female drummer” were “essentially true”.

Lawyers for the Pirates of the Caribbean star had asked two judges at the Court of Appeals for leave to challenge the decision, with the aim of overturning his findings and ordering a second trial.
