John C. Reilly looked unrecognizable while transforming into Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss for the upcoming HBO Showtime series.

The Chicago star, 56, ditched her curly locks for a sleek, backward blonde look and a handlebar mustache.

Looking like a blast from the past, John wore chic ’80s aviator sunglasses and wore an unbuttoned royal purple shirt to reveal his hairy chest and a gold chain.

Also on set is Jason Segal, who will play coach Paul Westhead in the series produced by Adam McKay. (The Bombshell filmmaker will also direct the pilot.)

He looked sporty in a yellow Lakers tee over a collared shirt and gray pants while keeping his hair in a shaggy retro style.

It felt like a moment of celebration for the actors, all of whom wore “Los Angeles Lakers World Champions 1980” jerseys while holding up their 1980 Championship trophy during the scene.

In addition to Reilly and Segel, Quincy Isaiah appeared as Magic Johnson and Solomon Hughes was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Showtime has been in development for several years, starting the first shoots in October 2019 before temporarily suspending the project.

Buss owned the Lakers during their “Showtime” era of the late ’70s to early’ 90s, when the team dominated the NBA with the talents of Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

When Buss – a self-made millionaire, notorious playboy, and sometimes pro-poker player – bought the team in 1979, he brought his high-risk, high-reward style to the franchise, insisting the Lakers bring entertainment in court.

The Lakers ended up winning the championships in 80, 82, 85, 87 and again in 88.

Sally’s character Jessie Buss divorced her son’s father while raising him during a period that saw them move from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, Wyoming.

When Jerry took up his post with the Lakers, his mother took care of his money and became one of his primary sources of advice.

The Showtime miniseries is based on Jeff Pearlman’s 2014 book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty.

HBO has yet to announce a release date.
