It was a beautiful day for a “white wedding”.
Miley Cyrus shared the stage with Billy Idol during her TikTok Tailgate pre-game gig in Tampa Bay ahead of Super Bowl 55, bringing the rocker on stage with a single “Hey, Billy Idol.”
After performing their Plastic Hearts collaboration “Night Crawling”, the two joined forces for Idol’s hit “White Wedding” with Cyrus, wearing a pink and black cheerleader outfit (and matching knee pads), dancing suggestively between the bends.
Cyrus kicked off the TikTok Tailgate, his first gig in over a year, with his own version of Toni Basil’s “Mickey,” turning the lyrics into “Miley” by asking the crowd to sing along. She performed “Prisoner”, cover “Heart of Glass” by Blondie, “Head Like a Hole” by Nine Inch Nails and “Jolene” by Dolly Parton.
Rocker Joan Jett joined Cyrus on stage.
“An introduction sounds insulting,” Cyrus said as Jett took the stage. Instead, the two gave an animated version of “Bad Reputation”, “Bad Karma” and “I hate myself for loving you”.
‘I will be there’: Miley Cyrus to perform at ‘TikTok Tailgate’ pre-game event for Super Bowl LV
Cyrus became moved during part of the concert. “I wear a lot of sequins and I wear a lot of armor, but I also wear my heart on my sleeve, and it breaks a lot,” Cyrus said before moving on to his song ‘The Climb’.
The NFL announced last month that 7,500 vaccinated healthcare workers had been invited to attend Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium to watch the concert. Cyrus gave props to the workers during the show. “I couldn’t imagine doing this better with all of these health heroes,” Cyrus said from the scene. “Surrounded by the people who made this show possible. We are so grateful for you and for all of your diligence. And for that we are going to play hard.”
Idol, 65, and Cyrus, 28, both posted popular social media posts about the performance from the same motorcycle seat, each writing “Hot in the City.”
“Hot In The City @MileyCyrus -BFI,” Idol wrote on Twitter.
