Other entertainment industry talents who will be appearing at the global leadership event are Ms. Marvel executive producer Sana Amanat and starring Iman Vellani, The Janes directors Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes, and the former All-American Girls Professional Baseball League player and the inspiration behind Amazon Prime Video’s A league apart Maybelle Blair.

The initial list of guests, speakers and executives set to appear at the eighth annual conference produced by media brand Yahoo MAKERS – a community focused on women’s equity in the workplace and beyond – has was announced on Monday. The conference, which is set to return to the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif., will run October 24-26.

“As the world changes at a faster rate than ever before, it’s up to us as leaders to step up the fight for equality and create a more inclusive future for all,” said Alicin Reidy Williamson , director of diversity and culture at Yahoo. “Showing solidarity and alliance in the workplace has never been more critical than it is today, and the MAKERS conference is a place where conversations lead to real change.”

Other guests represent a multitude of industries, from politics, publishing and technology to education, advocacy and sports. This includes social change strategist and organizer Heather Booth; EMILY Laphonza Butler’s List President; 17-year-old #1000BlackGirlBooks founder Marley Dias; national best-selling author Essential Work Angela Garbes; contemporary American documentary filmmaker Immy Humes; award-winning educator Dr. Nadia Lopez; Cynt Marshall, CEO of the Dallas Mavericks; President and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Alexis McGill Johnson; Brown STEM Girls founder Alena Analeigh McQuarter, the youngest African American accepted into medical school; National Women’s Soccer League player Carson Pickett; U.S. Representative Katie Porter; writer and founder of Protect the Sacred Allie Redhorse Young; co-founder of SisterSong, human rights activist and professor at Smith College Loretta J. Ross; social media sex educator Sriha Srinivasan; and Founder and General Partner of Moxxie Ventures Katie Stanton.

The United States Artistic Swim Team will also make an appearance at the conference, where they will debut a new routine.

The theme of the year, “Making the Future”, will see this group of leaders and storytellers discuss the themes of representation, racial justice, reproductive rights, fairness in the workplace, the future of women in Hollywood, new models of equality in sport and more.

Sponsors for the 2022 three-day event include 23andMe, Mattel, Morgan Stanley, Meta and PwC, with lululemon being the official wellness sponsor.
