Jesse Tyler Ferguson took to Instagram on Friday to reveal that he and husband Justin Mikita are expecting their second baby.
The Modern Family star, 46, posted an announcement video in which he shared the happy news, saying, “We’re growing our family.”
The actor also referenced Tuesday’s tragic elementary school shooting in Texas: “There’s a lot of really awful things going on in the world right now, so Justin and I wanted to share some good news with you guys. “

Ferguson is already the parent of one-year-old son Beckett with Mikita, 36, and said they are “so thrilled that Beckett has a brother”.
The Screen Actors Guild Award winner also gave his followers a hint about the due date, revealing that Beckett will be a big brother “this fall.”
Along with his announcement video, the actor also shared a photo of him and Mikita posing with their Beverly Hills fertility specialist, Dr. Shahin Ghadir.

Jesse captioned the post, writing, “@justinmikita and I have some exciting news, we’re waiting for issue #2!”
“Our growing family will be a family of four later this fall!” We’re so excited that Beckett has a brother,’ he continued.
His post then took on a serious tone, as he touched on current social issues.
“Like the majority of people in this country right now, we are heartbroken by the attacks across the country – from senseless gun violence to state-by-state attacks on our transgender family and an attack on women’s reproductive health.

The actor went on to talk about the couple’s nonprofit PRONOUN and their partnership with @shopmilimili, “a woman (mom) owned small business made in Los Angeles,” with 100% of the proceeds going to PRONOUN.
He said the resources will be used to “target states where reproductive health and transgender rights are currently under constant attack.”
The actor also revealed that they have already donated $25,000 to @aclu_nationwide, @nationalabortionfederation and @everytown each.
“We are so thrilled to have a little one join our growing family – and so proud to support the choice to do so,” he captioned his caption.

Former Jesse’s Modern Family co-star Sarah Hyland, 31, was thrilled with the news, commenting “YESSSSSSSSS” below the ad, while actor Max von Essen, 48, agreed, writing : ‘I needed some good news!! Congratulations guys!’
The couple became fathers for the first time a few years later on July 7, 2020, when they welcomed their son Beckett Mercer into the world.
Jesse announced her engagement to Justin in September 2012, after two years of dating. The duo said yes in New York City on July 20, 2013 with playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner celebrating the wedding.
The actor is best known for his portrayal of Mitchell Pritchett on Modern Family, which ran for 11 seasons on ABC from 2009-2020.
