JeongYeong Lee has fame on his mind

The recovery process was tedious, but it helped steady Lee’s spirit as he anxiously awaited his next fight. Once healed from knee surgery, Lee “focused on filling in the gaps,” particularly in the grappling department. He tips his proverbial cap to his younger brother, as well as his wrestling coach who has been with him since the beginning, for the sacrifices they made to get him back into shape.

Heading into his fight against Blake Bilder at UFC Fight Night: Dolidze vs. Imavov, Lee is on a seven-fight winning streak dating back to October 2017, and the 28-year-old believes he’s just scratching the surface the surface of its potential.

“My mindset got stronger,” Lee said. “Knowing that there are many strong fighters in the UFC, I cannot afford to let my guard down. I will continue to build my career without losing sight of my original intentions.”

Of course, Lee is by no means lacking in confidence. In his octagonal interview with Michael Bisping a year ago, he announced his plan: fight Ilia Topuria, then Max Holloway, then fight Alexander Volkanovski for the title.

Although the featherweight division is far too loaded for a newbie to make their own decisions, it remains a testament to Lee’s ambition and self-belief.
