Jensen Ackles revealed this week on Michael Rosenbaum’s ‘Inside of You’ podcast that Jessica Alba was “awful” to work with during their time together on the set of “Dark Angel.” Ackles became a series regular during the show’s second season and said he “got regularly harassed” by Alba. The actor stressed that there was nothing but love between the two and noted, “I said that to her face,” regarding how awful it was to work together.
“I love Jess, which I know kind of contradicts what I just said,” Ackles said. “She was under immense pressure on this show. She was young, she was in a relationship with one of the guys [co-star Michael Weatherly]and it was rocky and causing undue stress, I believe, on the set.
“I was the newcomer to the neighborhood and was chosen by the chief,” he added. “Like the worst kind of feud a brother and sister could ever have. She got it for me. It wasn’t that she didn’t like me. She was just like, ‘Oh, here’s the pretty boy that the network brought in for a bit more facade because that’s what we all need.’ Pretty soon I was like, ‘What the fuck is this? What did I do?'”
Ackles said he fought “fire with fire” and the two gained mutual respect over time with the mentality of “I’ll be a dick to him and he’ll be a dick to me and that’s as well as we will play.” The actor added, “But we argued. We bickered like brother and sister.
The “Dark Angel” co-stars eventually found common ground, with Alba even going out of her way to comfort Ackles after her grandfather passed away during production. “She literally walked into my trailer and held me for half an hour,” Ackles said. “So it was that kind of relationship. If she came in, we’d all be hugs, but she didn’t make it easy for me.
