In the middle of a very important anniversary, which undoubtedly changed the course of his career, Jennifer Lopez looks back on the time she spent with her ex-husband, Mark Anthony.

The star revealed that it had already been more than fifteen years since the two filmed El Cantante together.

She thought back to her performance as Nilda “Puchi” Lavoe, the “feisty wife” of Héctor Lavoe. which further boosted her acting career after playing Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 biopic about the late singer’s life.

J.Lo took to Instagram to pay tribute to El Cantantereleased in 2006. Images from the film sees several emotional scenes in which Puchi talks about her husband and revisit the contentious moments between the two.

“Why the [expletive] wouldn’t I want him to change?” said the let’s make some noise hitmaker in the first clip, appearing with curly hair and smoking a cigarette.

As sentimental music plays in the background, she says, “That’s so stupid, he was my husband, of course I wanted him to be better, I think you owe me an apology.” It then cuts to a clip of the former couple playing the stars who died in various heated arguments.

El Cantante solidified JLo’s acting career

The triple threat captioned the photo with, “In honor of my new movie #TheMother…” alongside a fire and dancing woman emoji, along with the hashtags “#Puchi #ElCantante #CinemaSunday #15YearsAgo #Throwback”. giving a shout out to his next action flick.

Fans couldn’t believe how much time had already passed since the movie’s release and once again congratulated her on her performance, writing, “Go offffff” and, “Wooooow!!! triggered so many emotions”, as well as: “THAT’S ALL THAAAAAAAAAANG!” plus another fan added, “ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES.”

Although the two separated in 2011, they have maintained a friendship in the years since.

The film was shot two years after the former couple marriedhaving married in 2004, and although they separated in 2011, the two have remained friends and great co-parents over the years, even teaming up for various performances.

In El Cantantethey portrayed the story of the iconic Puerto Rican singer after emigrating to the United States, falling in love with Puchi and teaming up with fellow singer Willie Colón and becoming a pioneer in salsa music.
