(NewsNation) – Let’s hope Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck goes better than her paean to her love for him because J.Lo’s “ecosystem” isn’t working.

(As her longtime manager, Benny Medina, told Billboard: “The mindset was, ‘Let’s create an ecosystem of Jennifer Lopez that can expand into all the different worlds that she has crossed.”)

But Lopez and Medina miscalculated…seriously.

Unlike other singers, Madonna, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, who made their own rules by releasing albums, films and touring at the same time… Lopez overestimated her fan base and her own popularity.

The film she financed about her life, “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told,” and her documentary both failed. The documentary was purchased by Amazon (so the numbers are hidden) and became the butt of jokes on social media. TikTokers viciously mocked Jenny from the Block, and the New York Times mocked it, saying, “(The doc) is a showcase of the grueling, endless, and dangerous work of being Jennifer Lopez… This project doesn’t seem not having brought Lopez comes closer to serenity or lightness. This is an opportunity to work even more.

The harshest criticism came from “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told,” which was widely panned and featured no real celebrities (aside from Lopez) — although Lopez reached out to Taylor Swift, Jason Momoa, Lizzo and Jennifer Coolidge…all of whom were successful.

Fans criticized the film, saying, “This is the longest, most boring, most narcissistic music video I’ve ever seen.”

Other comments included:

  • “I had to turn it off… so embarrassed for her!”
  • “I feel really bad for her. All the money/fame in the world and deep insecurity.
  • “I’m not being mean by saying this, but please get a therapist and work through your issues. You are worthy of truly loving yourself.

The documentary and film cost a whopping $70 million ($20 million of his own money) and the film only grossed $7.2 million at the box office.

Her first studio album in 10 years, “This is Me…Now”, was also criticized by critics and fans – with the New York Post even going so far as to say “gives us ‘Gigli’ again” – and also failed, debuting at #38 on the Billboard charts and falling quickly.

The “This Is Me…Now” tour sold so poorly that seven cities were canceled and it had to be retitled “This Is Me…Live,” featuring her biggest hits instead of sweet love songs from his latest album.

But even the chance to see her perform her biggest hits doesn’t increase her fan base.

Lopez has yet to sell out a show or tickets in New York – his hometown – in all sections are easily available. The most expensive tickets for front row seats are around $1,000. Compare that to similar seats for Beyoncé ($5,000), Madonna ($3,200) or Taylor Swift (resale market as her concerts sell out almost immediately worldwide: $20,000).

Lopez can’t say she wasn’t warned. As her longtime producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas told Variety: “I’m in New York and she says, ‘I think I’ll finance this myself.’ I was like, ‘Wait, what? I don’t even know what it is. What are you doing?’ I was worried. “Why are you sharing your story? It’s too personal. Stop that.’ This made me feel bad for her.

When asked if she ever felt comfortable with films, Goldsmith Thomas replied, “No! She never won me over.

“Jennifer has always been a marketing and PR genius, but her biggest miscalculation is that she thinks the world is still interested in Ben and Jennifer’s love story,” said Rob Shuter, Lopez’s former public relations manager at the New York Post. “But no one cares about Bennifer anymore. The world has evolved. »

To add insult to injury, Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, is set to star opposite his best friend Matt Damon in the Netflix thriller “Pets”…as Damon’s wife. Affleck and Damon produce the film, which Affleck directs.

“This doesn’t sit well with Jennifer,” my source said. “(Lopez) considers herself a triple threat: singer, dancer and actress. So why wasn’t she chosen to be his wife? Why is it (Garner), Ben’s ex?

Although Affleck and Garner’s kids get along well with Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins, Garner and Lopez’s relationship is “virtually non-existent — they have nothing in common,” my source added.

So what’s a girl to do if you’ve just had the lousiest two months of your professional life? If you’re J.Lo, you get back to work.

When she’s not being photographed on the streets of New York, Lopez is filming “Kiss of the Spider Woman” in Newark, New Jersey.

According to the New York Post, “the film is set in an Argentinian prison in 1981 and focuses on a fantasy woman (played by Lopez) created by an inmate serving an eight-year sentence. »

“It’s a 12-hour day,” my insider said. “She literally dances and works hard all the time.”

Asked about her behavior, the source, who has worked with Lopez on several projects in the past, only said, “Chastised.”
