Who: Golden Globe-nominated actor Nicholas Hoult, 31, and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence, 30.
How they met: The actors met through X-Men: First Class, which began filming in 2010. The following year rumors of their romance reached the press.
In an interview with The Guardian Hoult awkwardly (and unsuccessfully) avoided questions about the relationship. “Jen is awesome and we had a lot of fun making the movie, and she’s a very talented actress and… I’m just getting around it, basically!” he said.
But, you know, candid basketball photos don’t lie …
Why we loved them: Even though they both made an effort to keep their relationship private, Lawrence couldn’t resist gushing about Hoult in interviews.
She was especially open when it came to praising her boyfriend’s appearance.
“He has absolutely no idea how handsome he is,” she said. Vogue in 2012. “I think a lot of women and men hate me because of this.”
She then spoke of Hoult’s “beautiful face” in an interview with Marie Claire. “Appearances can go pretty far,” she joked.

Laurent said It that Hoult was “her best friend” and would make her “laugh harder than anyone”.
And they shared… hobbies?
“We can eat Cheetos and watch beach volleyball and we turn into two kinky Homer Simpsons, like ‘Oh, she’s got a nice ass’,” she explained. “I never thought we would have such different opinions on asses.”
It wasn’t all beautiful and, uh … asses, But. Lawrence was also open about the less pleasurable aspects of the relationship – like, say, shaving cream?
the Silver Linings Playbook The star swore by the proceeds to remove the cobalt blue body paint she wore to portray her X-Men character, Mystique. Hoult, however, was not a fan.
“It’s really good for removing paint, but Nick hated it because I came home smelling like a man and, like, too tired,” she said. Additional. “I was like ‘Don’t touch me I’m too tired’ and he was like ‘You smell like a guy.'”

When they peaked: Like J. Law, the couple were always on the hunt for original hijinks.
During a visit to The Graham Norton Show in 2016, Lawrence admitted that she hijacked Hoult’s phone to text their X Men co-stars (including Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy).
“So I wrote this really serious and moving text and I was like, ‘Guys this is super embarrassing’,” Lawrence explained, “And I was like, ‘I know that sounds silly, it’s really embarrassing but, have you ever, like – my gosh it’s so embarrassing – lactating your nipples? “”

And the antics of the theater children do not end there. The Kentucky native said HEY that whenever she shouted at Hoult, she unconsciously took on a southern accent.
“I used to yell at Nick and see his smile flicker,” she recalls. “[I was] like, “Why are you smiling? And he said to me ‘Because you look like your father.’ “
Breaking: News of the couple’s breakup first circulated in early 2013, but the breakup was short-lived. By August, they had reached the zenith of their twenties: the picnic in the park.
As the Lawrence star continued to climb (hello, third Oscar nomination), Hoult opened up about their relationship in an interview with Male V.
“I’m just kind of a spectator in a lot of ways,” he said, referring to Lawrence’s fame. “It’s well deserved for her. I haven’t really seen a change in her.”

Lawrence also toured the press, addressing the couple’s often conflicting schedules.
“When we are busy, we accept to ignore each other,” she said. Marie Claire. “Not completely, but neither of us gets upset when the other doesn’t answer or call. Life is very busy. Obviously you know what they’re doing and you trust them.”
A few months later, Hoult and Lawrence separate again (for good). E! New sources cited the actors’ busy schedules. “They spent a lot of time apart because of work, and it was difficult for their relationship.”
Lawrence had his own theory (sort of). After their separation in 2013, she said Vogue than Hoult’s dishwashing habits presented as a red flag. “[Nicholas] I would never wring them out, ”she said of the sponges. “We were in the kitchen once, and I picked up the sponge, and it was soapy and wet, and I was like, ‘You see? These are the kinds of things that make me think we’re never going to work. ‘”
In 2015, Lawrence opened up about the end of his relationship in an interview with Diane Sawyer.
“These movies had been my life for so long and they had to come first in everything,” she said of the Hunger games franchise, the third installment of which came out in 2015. “I was also in a relationship with someone for five years and that was my life. So my life was that person and these movies and we kind of broke up at the same time. same time when I finished these films. At 24, it was all this year: “Who am I without these films? Who am I without this man? “”

Hoult and Lawrence remain friends – the latter even brought her new boyfriend (now husband) Cooke Maroney to the Hoult movie premiere, The favourite.
Lawrence told Marc Maron: “All my boyfriends have been wonderful,” specifically calling for Hoult. “Nick was a great boyfriend.”
Where they are now: Hoult started dating model Bryana Holly in 2017. They welcomed a child together the following year.
Great the star’s latest project, Those who want my death, is available to stream on HBO Max.
Lawrence married Maroney in 2019 and has kept a relatively low profile in the years since.
The actress has several projects on the horizon, including the star-studded Netflix drama Do not seek and the biopic of Elizabeth Holmes Bad blood.
