If it seems hard to remember a time before Jennifer Lawrence made it to the Oscars, that’s because it did, even for her. During a panel on Saturday, Deadline reminded Lawrence of a pre-renamed connection to Taylor Sheridan that she herself hadn’t realized. When the Yellowstone creator and showrunner was still a struggling actor, he worked as an acting coach to earn extra money. He met Lawrence before his breakout role in winter bone, but ended up paying her back as he felt he had nothing to teach her. “What?” Lawrence said stunned after hearing the story. “I remember going up to someone and saying to my mom, ‘Here’s your money. Don’t put her in acting classes, whatever you do. Was it Taylor Sheridan? When the Pavement The star was told that Sheridan was indeed the one who fired her, she said: “I have to tell my mum.” Sheridan previously told Deadline that Isabel May, who stars as Elsa Dutton in her prequel series 1883, Lawrence reminded her because they both already had what they needed without any outside Hollywood influence. Given the trajectory of Lawrence’s career, we’d say his assessment is probably pretty good news for May.
