“No Hard Feelings,” an upcoming R-rated comedy starring Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence, has made Point Lookout one of the filming locations.
A production notice from Columbia Pictures informed neighborhood residents that filming would take place Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The notice, from the Film Locations Department, said the production was working in cooperation with the local government of the town of Hempstead. A crew was seen Thursday morning setting up at Ted’s fishing station at Point Lookout.
Set in Montauk, the film is described in industry media as being in the vein of Tom Cruise’s 1983 teen comedy classic “Risky Business” and 2011’s “Bad Teacher,” about a lazy, incompetent gold digger (Cameron Diaz) forced to work as a college professor. This comedy was co-written by Gene Stupnitsky, the director and co-writer of “No Hard Feelings”. Stupnitsky previously directed and co-wrote the 2019 R-rated comedy “Good Boys,” about a group of sixth graders who inadvertently find themselves on an adventure.
“No Hard Feelings,” announced in October, also stars Woodmere’s Andrew Barth Feldman, who conquered Broadway in 2019 when he played the title role in “Dear Evan Hansen.” The film is scheduled for release on June 16, 2023. — with Elisa DiStefano
