Jennifer Lawrence is set to return to our screens later this year with the new R-rated comedy No strong emotions. I say “return” because Lawrence has actually taken a mini-break from acting in recent years. After winter bone And The hunger Games catapulted the actress to superstardom, Lawrence spent the better part of a decade working on back-to-back projects with press tours in between. You can understand why she craved a little downtime.
No strong emotions was first unveiled in March. Slated for release June 23, Lawrence stars as Maddie, an Uber driver facing bankruptcy. Desperate for money, Maddie accepts a bizarre Craigslist ad posted by two parents concerned about their introverted 19-year-old son. In exchange for a Buick Regal, Maddie’s job is to become the son’s girlfriend, helping him warm up to the idea of sex and adulthood. It’s described as a “coming of age sex comedy” that gives a pretty good idea of what to expect. Now we have a brand new R-rated trailer for the project.
Take a look at No strong emotions below.
The film also stars Andrew Barth Feldman, Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti. While Sony won the release rights, it’s believed there was an intense bidding war with Apple, Netflix and Universal Pictures all involved. This certainly bodes well for the film and admittedly, the trailer looks great.
Some raised their eyebrows at the R-rated comedy, but that’s not always the case. In the new trailer, we see Lawrence’s Maddie trying out her best seduction techniques, including squirming in the lap of 19-year-old Percy, who just isn’t interested in the whole debacle.
