Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis to star in Sex and the City Revival for HBO Max
And Just Like That will be a “new chapter in the revolutionary series” Sex and the City
Jennifer Coolidge is a “big” fan of Gender and city and star Kim Cattrall – but the actress won’t be stepping into Samantha Jones’ shoes anytime soon.
Thursday the The revenge of a blonde actress appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen where she discussed whether or not she would be interested in reprising the character of Cattrall in the upcoming HBO Max series revival.
Coolidge, who played a small role in a 2003 episode of the original series, explained that Cattrall was so “perfect” as Samantha that she didn’t see herself, or anyone, replacing the character.
“I was a huge, and I’m still a huge, Gender and city fan. It’s one of those shows, you can just watch the reruns and never get tired of it, ”the actress began.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis confirmed the news of a future on Sunday SATC restart, titled And just like that, on Instagram. Cattrall – who has publicly argued that she will never return to the franchise – was conspicuously absent from the exciting announcement.
While several actresses, including Coolidge, have been cast to reprise the role of Cattrall, Gender and city Author Candace Bushnell has stated that she thinks the show will work “just fine” without Samantha at all.
“You know what, I think it’s okay,” Bushnell told Page Six just days after the wake-up call was announced. “Kim is a grown woman. She’s 64 and she made a decision that I’m sure she has 10 very good reasons for and I respect her for it.”

Bushnell went on to say that she thinks the show will be “interesting” without Samantha and that the show can now explore its other characters more.
“But I also know that there are a lot of interesting characters like [Nixon’s] Miranda. We are all Mirandas. Miranda is an interesting character – but I don’t know what they’re going to do, ”she said.
“Kim should be happy – and I think she’s happy. I think her character Samantha will always be an inspiration to them,” Bushnell added.
The author also noted that the reboot’s writers will surely come up with ideas to address Cattrall’s absence.
“So somehow I imagine she will be there in the mind and as an inspiration giving them a chance to explore sexuality with different characters. [without Samantha hogging the libidinous spotlight]Bushnell explained.
Fans have long been looking for another installment of the popular franchise, which originally aired as a TV show on HBO from 1998 to 2004, and scored two spinoff movies. Executive producer Michael Patrick King’s ten-half-hour series is slated to begin production in New York City in late spring.
