West Ham have spent £150million on talent this summer, but fans continue to wonder why David Moyes is persevering with the same XI.

The Hammers have been predictable in their team selection week after week and while that has largely worked in recent seasons, it certainly isn’t working now.

Consecutive top-seven finishes and a Europa League semi-final last season may have justified Moyes not straying too far from his tried and trusted group.

However, now must be the time to refresh things considerably for their Premier League clash with Wolves on Saturday.

Fans have been asking the owners to spend money on new players. Now that they’re at the door, why aren’t they in the field?

The Hammers sit third from bottom in the Premier League with five defeats in their first seven games.

Of particular concern is the fact that they have only scored three goals in those games, with much of this summer on attacking talent including Gianluca Scamacca, who has so far spent the majority of his time at his new club on the bench.

talkSPORT understands Moyes has ‘credit in the bank’, but if the results continue on their downward trajectory it remains to be seen how long that will last.

Two wins from two in the Europa League Conference group stages will no doubt give Moyes food for thought when they host Bruno Lage’s struggling Wolves side at the London Stadium on Saturday night.

In particular, Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet looked sharp, while Craig Dawson and Manuel Lanzini also got on the scoresheet in an entertaining 3-2 win over Danish Superliga side Silkeborg IF.

Despite the bright spots in European competitions over the past few months, the Hammers’ form in the Premier League has suffered and Moyes’ side are already out of ideas just seven games into the new season.

Their loss to Chelsea was a particular sore point with VAR mistakenly nullifying a deserved equalizer.

Bad luck aside, Moyes’ players have so far looked a shadow of the surprise package they were in the Premier League last season and reached the last four of a European competition.

They have been particularly bad on the road, having lost eight of their last ten Premier League away games, but overall their form has been of concern for some time, having recorded just six wins in their last Last 24 top-flight matches.

So what changes do fans want to see Moyes make to fix West Ham’s Premier League form?

Moyes could consider switching from his usual 4-2-3-1 setup to a 4-1-3-2 to accommodate some of West Ham’s exciting summer signings like record £51m signing Lucas Paqueta.

Starting from the back, goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski should keep his place after a solid performance in this defeat against Everton.

Kurt Zouma has also been solid in the heart of defence, and Craig Dawson could return to make his first Premier League start this season.

As a result, Thilo Kehrer will step into the right-back role, having featured for Germany in their Nations League draw against England, in place of the out-of-form Vladimir Coufal. Aaron Cresswell is also expected to retain his left-back spot.

Meanwhile, in front of the defence, 23-year-old Flynn Downes may have his chance to impress, having yet to feature in the Premier League this season.

Downes impressed on his first start for his boyhood club in the Hammers’ 3-1 win over FCSB and will provide more technical security in the build-up stages compared to Tomas Soucek – another player struggling for his form at West Ham.

Ahead of Downes, Declan Rice and Brazilian playmaker Paqueta are expected to form the midfield duo, with the latter thriving in that right-wing No.8 role at his former club Lyon and under coach- Brazilian chef Tite.

In front of them, Pablo Fornals should have the chance, in front of a revitalized Said Benrahma, to play his traditional role of n°10.

Jarrod Bowen, who has had a disappointing start to the campaign by his own high standards, looks likely to miss out on this new roster.

Moyes could be tempted to bring in Scamacca, with the Italy international providing extra support in a front two alongside Michail Antonio.
