Arsenal’s potential first Premier League title in 20 years has led Jason Cundy to temporarily link up with Tottenham fan Jamie O’Hara.

The Gunners are one point clear of Manchester City at the top of the table ahead of Sunday’s north London derby.

With just four games remaining in the top flight, Mikel Arteta’s men are closing in on the title – which would be unbearable for the Sports Bar hosts.

Cundy and O’Hara stressed that they could not allow Arsenal to win the championship due to their respective allegiances to Chelsea and Spurs.

Claiming he couldn’t cope with the joyful Arsenal supporters, Cundy said: “I’m a Chelsea fan, we can’t let Arsenal win the title – that just can’t happen at the Sports Bar.

“It’s going to kill us! There are enough Gooners in the office, there are Gooners everywhere, we can’t have any.

“My boys failed miserably [5-0 defeat at the Emirates], and now all of a sudden, SOS – save our sports bar! On to the Spurs.”

Cundy, who also despises Tottenham – despite playing 28 times for them during the 1990s – because they are the Blues’ biggest rivals, was asked if he would cheer for them in the north London derby .

Insisting he could “never” cheer for Spurs, he admitted he would celebrate any goal against Arteta’s side “for the Sports Bar”.

O’Hara then managed to convince Cundy to be a Spurs supporter just for one match during all the brief periods he graced the White Hart Lane pitch.

Cundy then said: “It’s about – nothing to do with Spurs – it’s just another team that can take points from them.

“And because it’s a north London derby, it’s all about the Sports Bar.

Emmanuel Petit explains why Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is player of the season ahead of Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Manchester City’s Phil Foden.

“If Spurs win, I’ll give a little punch. But it’s not because of Spurs!

“It’s because of the points lost by Arsenal. It’s like a [does mini pump]’Yeah, they lost points.'”

Having been told by O’Hara to agree to be a Spurs fan for the weekend, Cundy said: “There will be a part of me that will pray for the Sports Bar. SOS.”

While Cundy and O’Hara desperately wait as Arsenal wait 20 years for a title, Gunners hero Emmanuel Petit is confident they can finally go all the way.

This is despite City having the advantage of a game in hand over Arsenal, where victory would take them two points clear.

Petit, who won the Premier League and FA Cup double at Highbury in 1998, appeared on talkSPORT Drive to discuss the title race.

On his former employer’s chances, the Frenchman said: “At the start of the season I think City were ahead of Arsenal.

“But I think that could change this season. Obviously they don’t have their destiny in their hands because City have games in hand and are two points ahead.

“But I still haven’t seen the best of City this season, especially in defense, I think they look more vulnerable.

“And that’s why Arsenal – the way they reacted by scoring five goals against Chelsea – they know how important Sunday’s game against Tottenham is.

“But I’m very confident, I still believe Arsenal will win the Premier League.”
