The 26-year-old talisman made his long-awaited return from injury against Kilmarnock this weekend.

In typical Morelos fashion, he scored it with a goal to seal a 2-0 win.

The Colombian leader then came on late as Gers produced a superb European response to beat Union SG 3-0 at Ibrox to secure their progress in Champions League qualifying.

He is back after five months of absence.

A thigh injury sustained on international duty required surgery and ended Morelos’ season.

It meant the key Gers man missed out on several key Premiership clashes, including clashes with Old Firm and the run to the Europa League final.

As is often the case when it comes to transfer windows, Morelos’ future at Rangers has been a regular topic.

However, this time around, he was focused on a potential new contract instead of a possible transfer.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst gave hope that Morelos, who has less than a year left to conclude his current contract, would put pen to paper last month.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Gers boss revealed the forward was ‘very positive’ about signing an extended contract.

Two weeks after these comments, no announcement has yet been made.

In a post Gers fans will love, Morelos took to Instagram with a post that shows his mind is certainly very much on the club.

And could that be a hint that he sees his long-term future at Ibrox?

He said: “Big win.

“Let’s go for more teams than that.

“It’s just the beginning.”

Morelos will be looking to help Rangers get back into the Champions League group stage and get their first taste of Europe’s premier competition.

PSV Eindhoven will stand in their way.

The Dutch giants travel to Ibrox for the first leg on Tuesday, with the return game in the Netherlands the following week.

A place in the group stage will be at stake.
