Jason Cundy insists Tottenham have flattered to cheat this season and described the latest loss to Sporting Lisbon as ‘Spursy’.
Antonio Conte’s side suffered a late collapse against the Portuguese side as two stoppage time goals saw Spurs go down 2-0 at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
It ends Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the season – and many believe Conte has put previous questions about the club’s mentality to bed.
But not Cundy.
While the former Chelsea man admitted Spurs didn’t deserve to lose the game, he couldn’t help but laugh at their inability to see the game.
Cundy told the Sports Bar: “It wasn’t brilliant, but I don’t know how Spurs lost that game.
“Believe me, I was delighted as soon as Spurs conceded because there was a bit of Spursy-ness about it, there was.
“You had a good start to the season in terms of results, but in terms of performance? Unconvincing. I’ve never walked out of a Spurs game and thought ‘wow, they’re going to cause trouble’.
“You stumbled and stumbled on the results. You haven’t been brilliant in a lot of matches that I’ve seen, but you’ve managed to get some results. That says a lot about the team.
“You should have been beaten at Stamford Bridge but you drew. You should have shot tonight but you got beaten.
“I’m not sure how you lost points tonight because they weren’t good. They weren’t brilliant, they weren’t two goals better than Spurs.
“Spurs had half chances. Richarlison is unconvincing. I’m not convinced he’s the man to score goals. He may have performances, but I’m not convinced he will get goals.
“He’s not 15-20 goals per season, he’s not. Tonight we saw that. We saw that he’s not the man who will get you out of a situation.
“Harry Kane is the man. He’s still the man. If Kane doesn’t score in close games, where are the goals?”
Cundy added: “It was Spursy because it was a game you shouldn’t have lost. That criticism and that tag will always be there because you’re still Spurs.
Jamie O’Hara had none of that though, saying, “It wasn’t a Spursy performance, I think you’re a bit harsh there.
“In the first game we lose, it’s straight away ‘oh, it’s Spursy again’. You just jump on the fact that we’re still falling back.
“Tonight wasn’t great, it wasn’t a great performance. It was 0-0 written everywhere but the defense at the end let us down.
Responding to comments about concessions in the 89e minute, O’Hara shot back, “It’s going to happen. We are going to lose games this season.
