French Montana is a rapper who has received several accolades and honors over the years.

Her 2017 single Unforgettable earned him a diamond plaque for selling 10 million sales of the song.

Now he makes a big claim about the impressive achievement.

Frenchman, real name Karim Kharbouch, boldly said in an interview with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo on the A million dollar game podcast (via Hiphop News) that he is the first New York rapper to receive diamond certification.

“I am the first male artist from Mecca, from the Bronx, and the first African born artist to become a diamond dealer.”

“I’m the first male artist from the Mecca of Hip Hop to go diamond, you know what I’m saying.”

That’s why French’s statements surprised the podcast hosts, with Gillie wondering if Jay-Z had ever received a diamond certification, to which the 37-year-old musician replied “No.”

French Montana didn’t say if he was referring to any albums or songs that achieved diamond status, but that didn’t stop social media from mocking him for his cocky comments.

“Biggie’s life after certified diamond come on French you know frank white numbers you were on bad guy,” one Twitter user said.

“Did French Montana claim he was the first rapper to become a diamond in the mecca of hip-hop?” asked another Twitter user. “Did I hear that right, LMAOO?”

French Montana Fact Check of Claims

As for singles, French Montana is the only male rapper to accomplish the feat, while Nicki Minaj accomplished it with her hit song. Great bass.

In terms of albums, The Notorious BIG’s Life after death album was certified diamond in 2018, while Tupac was the first New York-born rapper to do so with his The biggest hits album in 2011.

Other shocking statements from French Montana

But this isn’t the first time French Montana has bragged or praised himself; just a few weeks ago, he discussed his mixtape run and his plans to go mainstream when the time comes.

“When I toned it down, I sold more albums and I was playing a numbers game,” he remarked on Connected with Wayno. “If I can put numbers, why can’t I put numbers, and I can still rap?”
