iPhone software bug: Apple confirms it’s working on an urgent fix – Forbes

The problem with a smartphone is that it does a lot of things. From maps to emails, weather to health monitoring, phones do more than ever. So when something as central as an alarm clock isn’t working properly, people notice. This is what is currently happening with the iPhone.

As noted by Joe Rossignol at MacRumors, there is a software bug on the iPhone that affects alarms in the Clock app. Some users find that the alarm clock does not work and therefore they wake up late.

There have been issues in the past, often related to the clock going back or a new year, for example, but the latest issues were reported on social media and have nothing to do with any of that.

An alarm clock is quite simple: you choose a time for it to wake you up and you are sure it will do so. But some users, as reported by Today Show on NBCcomplain that the iPhone doesn’t play the wake-up sound it was asked for, leaving them oversleeping.

It’s very annoying, and the news affected Joanna Stern of the Wall Street Journal as the Today Show called it. However, she confirmed that her iPhone was working correctly and at the right time, saying in a post on, “Today Show called me last night and told me the iPhone alarms weren’t working! I hadn’t heard this, but Apple confirmed this AM that it was aware of an issue preventing some alarms from sounding and was working on a fix. My iPhone alarm woke me up right on time at 6:50 a.m.! Does anyone have this problem? »

So the good news is that Apple has confirmed that it is working on a fix for the problem.

The bad news is that we don’t know enough about the problem to know for sure how big it is or how it manifests. We know that this doesn’t affect everyone and that it only fails to play certain sounds, rather than all.

Which leaves no one feeling safe. Learn more about the update as we have it.
