Apple could bring its 120Hz ProMotion displays to the entire iPhone 14 lineup next year. A new report from GSM Arena suggests that the entire iPhone 14 line could get the flagship display panel from the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. Additionally, Apple is also expected to bring its 6GB RAM to all of its 14-series phones, as opposed to just the Pro variants.
The information comes from a research note from Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu, which suggests that Apple’s iPhone Pro and non-Pro models will be closer than ever this year.
In the iPhone 13 series, the variable refresh rate ProMotion 120H display OLED panels were limited to the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. These models also featured 6GB of RAM, while the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 were stuck with 4GB of RAM.
If the new rumors are true, Apple might add more features to make the Pro variants stand out. A prime candidate for this is a new 48MP main camera that could finally replace the 12MP cameras in the iPhone series. Rumors had also suggested that the Pro variants might get 8GB of RAM with the new iPhone 14 series, but that plan has reportedly been scrapped by now.
A number of previous reports have also hinted that Apple is dropping the “mini” variant of the 14 series. Instead, the company may offer an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max in the range.
Note that it’s far too early to know for sure if these changes will actually make it into the iPhone 14 lineup. There’s still plenty of time between now and September 2022, when the new iPhones might be revealed, for further leaks. come out and dispute these statements. More information should be available closer to September.
