Earlier today, the popular camera rating database, DxOMark, released its camera rating for the iPhone 13 Pro. According to DxOMark, the iPhone 13 Pro scored a total of 137 points. That’s 9 points more than the previous generation iPhone 12 Pro. Specifically, on the picture note, the iPhone 13 Pro scored 144 points, 76 points for zoom and 119 points for video.

Judging by the overall ranking of cell phone cameras, Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro ranks fourth. This smartphone is behind the Huawei P50 Pro (144 points), the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (143 points) and the Huawei Mate 40 Pro + (139 points). However, it surpasses the Huawei Mate 40 Pro with 136 points.

Although the iPhone 13 Pro ranks fourth, it remains one of the best cameras in DxOMark’s database. The total score of 144 points for this flagship product for the photo ranking is excellent. Like all iPhones, the color rendering is vivid, the skin tones are beautiful, the feel is slightly warmer, and the camera is generally very reliable. The overall photo performance is very similar to that of the iPhone 12 Pro, but there are improvements in several ways.

The iPhone 13 Pro’s camera department is better in several ways

The color and contrast of backlit portraits has been improved and images exhibit higher levels of detail, especially when shooting in typical indoor conditions. It looks like Apple’s camera engineers have managed to use the new sensor’s larger pixel pitch to improve detail retention. However, just like the iPhone 12 Pro, there is still some brightness noise in most shooting situations.

The camera zoom score is 76 points. While not the best, the performance is still better than the iPhone 12 Pro. Thanks to the 3x longer optical zoom, compared to 2.5x for the old model. Due to multiple improvements in key areas, an excellent video score of 119 places the iPhone 13 Pro at the top of this sub-ranking. The very obvious instability of the tone mapping on the iPhone 12 series models has been fixed and the exposure is now generally very stable. Autofocus performance is now better, thanks to sensitive tracking at the right time and very smooth refocusing.

The iPhone 13 mini got a total score of 130 points. This mini model scored 138 points for taking photos, 55 points for zooming and 117 points for video.
