Influencer reveals what hair extensions REALLY do to your hair as she is forced to cut her locks after just a few months of use
Australian influencer Cartia Mallan spent years growing out her hair, but ruined her growth after using permanent hair extensions for just a few months.
The TikTok user shared her woes on the platform on Thursday with several videos documenting the process of losing all of her hair as she had to cut it into a bob.
She said she had a ‘panic’ when she took her extensions out after just a few months to find most of her hair had been pulled out and had become ‘shabby’.

“I had been growing him for years and years and he was getting really healthy and he was in such a good place,” she said in her video.
“And then I was like I want my hair to be longer, I just want to change it. So I was like, “You know what, I’m just going to have hair extensions for a month or two.”
‘So I put in these really long hair extensions. Then came the time to take them off and I had a real heart attack because I had no hair.

Mallan then showed off pictures of her original long, shiny and thick hair before revealing her hair extensions which provided extra hair length.
She then shocked her followers by pulling back her ponytail and revealing how damaged and thin her hair had become since the extensions were removed.
‘Look how thin my hair is now. Everything was torn out and completely destroyed. I literally have no choice but to cut my hair in a bob,’ she said.

She continued, “There is nothing in the world I fear more than having to cut my hair short. As if I was obsessed with long hair.
“But my hair, now, it really makes me want to cry how thin and thin and fair it is – it’s just scruffy. It’s seedy.
Mallan went on to warn women to avoid hair extensions if they want to grow their hair long and thick or if they already have damaged hair, saying she will never get permanent hair extensions again.

As she documented the process of her haircut, Mallan cautioned women against hair extensions if they wanted to grow their hair long and healthy.
The brunette beauty posted two follow-up videos that day.
The second showed her in the salon as the hairdresser cut off a huge chunk of her hair.
In the final video, her new hairstyle was revealed – a long, thick bob that beautifully framed her genetically blessed features.
